Petalcloud

Petalcloud is one-of-a-kind kinetic art sculpture in Changi Airport, Terminal 4. Designed by Art + Com, a German design firm who is also responsible for the Kinetic Rain sculpture in Terminal 1, the designer drew inspiration of the petal of orchid.

This centrepiece spans across a 200-metre space that separates the departure and transit area. It consists of 6 clouds, a total of 96 petals suspended mid-air with each of the symmetric petals weighs 40kg. Despite the heavyweight, it aims to create a feeling of lightness and timelessness. That is to mimic the ever-changing clouds.

The masterpiece moves unison with the customised music and light using special software. It is a perfect put together of art, science and technology – created to have a calming effect on the travellers.

Look out for Petalcloud the next time you are at Changi Airport, Terminal 4 and allow this majestic beauty to captivate you.
